FSC Australia welcomes new CEO, Bill Royce.
"To make FSC valued and respected by stakeholders"
FSC Australia is excited to announce Bill Royce as the new Chief Executive Officer of FSC Australia.
Bill comes from a professional background in corporate strategy, public policy and reputation management, and brings with him essential skills in stakeholder engagement, strategic communications and brand development. As a corporate leader with vast international experience, he has a broad vision and understanding of global dynamics and trends in sustainability, environment, climate change and impact reporting.
Last year we ended a chapter in our 2020 strategic plan, moving from our short-term outcome 'to make FSC publicly visible and known' and into the medium term phase "to make FSC valued and respected by stakeholders". With the transitioning focus, now is the right time for new leadership, and I am pleased to be able to hand it over to Bill who will see FSC Australia embark on the next chapter of growth.
Under the guiding focus of "visible and known", the organisation saw significant progress including increases in consumer awareness and visibility. Market research identified that high levels of retailers now have KPI's on sourcing FSC certified material and are increasingly using it in many of their private label products. Promotion of FSC products is further evident in partnerships with our Retail Supporters, greater use of FSC materials by bigger brands, and more large corporate businesses setting FSC purchasing policies.
It has been a privilege to lead FSC Australia, as FSC continues to bring together people with economic, social and environmental interests to drive improved practices and shift the global forest trend towards conservation, restoration and respect for all. This a noble and important aspiration.
FSC is transparent, democratic, and inclusive, and there are many opportunities for all our stakeholders to participate. We are defined by our unique ability to convene diverse groups to find innovative solutions to forestry issues. As a membership-based organisation, I would like to thank our members who continue to support us, have contributed to our consultations, have given up their time to be a working group or Board member and who - by injecting FSC viewpoints into different discussions - help us cast a shadow that is significantly bigger than our footprint. You make FSC Australia strong, effective and influential.
The voice of responsible forestry is impactful and needed more than ever to navigate the worldwide challenges of deforestation and climate change. If you share this vision, we encourage interested stakeholders to contact FSC Australia to become part of our democratic governance to ensure with us there are forests for all forever.
Under Bill's leadership, FSC Australia will continue to grow and diversify its membership, engage stakeholders across the supply chain, and help empower consumers to use their purchasing power. I have great confidence in his leadership and look forward to watching FSC Australia pursue its vision: to be the trusted brand for "healthy forests supporting healthy communities".
