7/11/2012 FSC 2012 Annual Office Surveillance Audit of Soil Association Woodmark (SA)

ASI, on behalf of FSC AC, will be conducting an annual Office Assessment of Soil Association Woodmark (SA), for worldwide Forest Management, FSC Controlled Wood and Chain of Custody certification.

The assessment will take place at the SA headquarters in Bristol, England, from the 27th - 29th November 2012.

Simon Armstrong will be the FSC Lead Assessor.

ASI welcomes comments from Network Partners, Certification Bodies, FSC members and other interested stakeholders on the performance of SA as an FSC accredited certification body.

13/8/2012 PF Olsen (Aus) Pty Ltd's Group Certification Scheme FM audit.

SCS is conducting a Forest Management a Forest Management audit of PF Olsen (Aus) Pty Ltd's Group Certification Scheme. SCS welcomes comment on the forest management of PF Olsen, and any comments should be sumbitted to SCS prior to the commencement of the audit on 17th September 2012.

17/07/12 Marubeni Corporation verification of Controlled Wood Supply

Marubeni Corporation has compiled a controlled wood annex 3 process under FSC STD 40 005 for the sourcing of Pinus radiate chips from Western Australia.

There is a requirement under the standard to make public both the Annex 2 risk assessment and the procedures for Annex 3 including the rationale for the sampling etc.

The Rainforest Alliance is conducting forest management and chain of custody certification assessments of Gunns Limited located in Tasmania. The assessment will be implemented from 30th of July to 3rd of August of 2012. Interested stakeholders should follow the advised comment procedures outlined in the attached document. 18/5/2012 Surveillance Audit for SFM Forest Products

SFM Forest Products are currently certified according to the FSC principles and criteria by the certification body Soil Association 'Woodmark'. Auditors from Woodmark will conduct a field based surveillance audit at a sample of the forests managed by SFM to evaluate continued compliance with the FSC principles and criteria during the week of 4th June 2012.

Stakeholders are welcome to comment using the form provided or may request a phone interview and or personal meeting with the audit team. Phone interviews are due to be conducted 23rd May. Personal meetings may be conducted to coincide with the FSC AGM in Melbourne (on or around 30th May) or in Tasmania (on or around 4th June) to coincide with the field audit.

17/4/2012 FSC Controlled Wood Surveillance Audit for WA Chip and Pulp Co Pty Ltd (WAPRES)

Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) is conducting a controlled wood (CW) surveillance audit of WA Chip & Pulp Co Pty Ltd (SCS-COC-004093) for wood harvested from Eucalyptus globulus plantations in South West Western Australia. The audit will be conducted between the 7th and 9th of May, 2012 at the WA Pulp & Chip Co Pty Ltd office in Bunbury, the Port of Bunbury Chip handling facility and plantation harvest areas in the Bunbury and Manjimup regions.

16/3/2012 FSC Annex 3 Field Verification not proceeding due to recent FSC FM Certification of FPQ:

In February 2012 the Amcor Cartonboard Petrie Mill located at 965 Gympie Road, Petrie QLD advised that it was seeking to apply for an expansion of scope to their FSC chain of custody certificate (SGS-COC-009153) to include Controlled Wood. As part of their controlled wood program, Amcor engaged Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) to implement Annex 3 field verification audits according to FSC-40-005 v2.1.

The Amcor Petrie Mill sources wood that originates from Pine plantations in South East Queensland managed by Forest Plantations Queensland (FPQ). FPQ was officially certified under the FSC on the 14th of March 2012. (SCS-FM/COC-00148P)

As a result, Amcor Cartonboard Petrie Mill, proposes to update its CW risk assessment to identify HCV’s as low risk (having verified that the plantation source is now FSC-certified) and will therefore not proceed with its Annex 3 Field Verification.

Amcor Cartonboard Petrie Mill will continue to apply for an expansion of scope to their existing FSC chain of custody certificate (SGS-COC-009153) to include Controlled Wood originating from FPQ through their certifying body.

28/2/2012 FSC Controlled Wood Verification for Amcor Petrie Mill, QLD

The Amcor Cartonboard Petrie Mill QLD is seeking to apply for an expansion of scope to their FSC chain of custody certificate (SGS-COC-009153) to include Controlled Wood. As part of their controlled wood program, Amcor has engaged Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) to implement Annex 3 field verification audits according to FSC-40-005 v2.1.

Amcor’s certifying Body is SGS and they will evaluate Amcor’s Controlled Wood program, including the SCS field verification audits and make a final certification decision on the expansion of their certificate.

The Amcor Petrie Mill is sourcing wood that originates from Pine plantations in South East Queensland managed by Forest Plantations Queensland (FPQ). This Forest has been undergoing assessment against the SCS Interim Standard For Natural Forest and Plantation Forest Management Certification in Australia Under the Forest Stewardship Council which included stakeholder consultation conducted during November 2011.

Amcor and SCS will undertake additional consultation with stakeholders regarding the HCV’s of the FPQ Forest with a view to completing the verification by 24th of March 2012,
